Finance Economist Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Finance Economist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of financial markets, economic theory, and quantitative analysis techniques. This role is pivotal in providing insightful analysis and forecasting to inform strategic decision-making across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis of global and domestic economic trends, financial markets, and policy developments.
- Develop and maintain econometric models for forecasting key economic and financial variables such as GDP growth, inflation, interest rates, and exchange rates.
- Analyze the impact of macroeconomic events and policy changes on financial markets and the company’s business operations.
- Prepare clear and concise reports, presentations, and briefings to communicate economic and financial insights to management and other stakeholders.
- Monitor and analyze financial market data, including equity, fixed income, and currency markets, to identify investment opportunities and risks.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as investment management, risk management, and corporate strategy, to provide economic and financial perspectives.
- Contribute to the development of investment strategies and portfolio management decisions.
- Stay abreast of the latest economic research and financial market developments.
- Present research findings at internal meetings and external conferences.
- Participate in the due diligence process for potential investments.
- Develop and maintain databases of economic and financial data.
Qualifications:
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in economic forecasting and financial market analysis.
- Strong understanding of macroeconomic theory, econometrics, and financial modeling.
- Proficiency in statistical software packages such as Stata, R, or Python.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience with Bloomberg, Refinitiv, or other financial data platforms.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing financial markets.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in the financial services industry.
- Familiarity with machine learning techniques.
- Experience with developing and maintaining large datasets.
- Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or progress towards it.
